Elite Helicopters adds Cirrus SR-22 G2 to Fleet

Elite Helicopters Cirrus SR-22 G2At Elite Helicopter Tours we have a fancy new machine added to our fleet but this one is not a helicopter. We’ve acquired a Cirrus SR-22 G2 featuring all the comforts available. The SR-22 has air-conditioning, Avidyne glass instrumentation, leather seating, four-place noise canceling headsets and more. It is a true pleasure to fly with its 310hp engine and 175 knot (201 MPH) cruising speed. Check back soon as we will have more information about how you can have access to this SR-22 for tours, rental and more.

Wings Over Camarillo Airshow Aug 21st and 22nd

FUN FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY, kid especially young and old at heart. This is the 30th anniversary of the Camarillo Airshow. Elite Helicopter Tours will be at the Wings Over Camarillo Air Show August 21st and 22nd. We will have our booth setup once again with our Robinson R-22 for demonstrations. We will be offering various specials for helicopter rides and tours of Los Angeles, introductory training specials and more. Parking is free for the event but entrance is $10 per person over the age of 12. I’ve also been told its cash only unless you purchase your tickets online. I’ve been to the event in previous years and it’s a lot of fun especially for the kids. This event is also more general aviation focused so you will be seeing more WWII and private aircraft performances and static displays. For more information, visit Wing’s Over Camarillo’s website at: http://www.wingsovercamarillo.com.

Highlights of the aerial show:
Aerobatic displays from 12 – 5 including: The Red Bull Helicopter piloted Chuck Aaron, War Dog John Collver’s AT-6, a Zlin 50LX, piloted by Rob Harrison, CAF’s Grumman F8F-2 Bearcat, and more!

    See static displays such as:

  • The Flying Wing – the Northrop NM-9
  • Two P-38 Lightening’s
  • All four famous Grumman ‘Cats’ – the F4F Wildcat, the F6F-5 Hellcat, the F8F-2 Bearcat and the F7F Tigetcat.
  • A very rare restored Supermarine Spitfire Mk XIV owned by the CAF.
  • A replica Supermarine Spitfire Mk IX.
  • A Fairey Firefly – a British war bird and one of only 25 in the world still flying.
  • An A6M3 Mitsubishi Zero – one of only three in the world still capable of flight.
  • A rare replica Caudron C-460 – a racing plane from the 1930′s.
  • A B-25 (Executive Sweet) and a C-53D (D-Day Doll).
  • …And many other planes – war birds, classics and experimentals.

The aerial display takes place from noon to 4pm each day. Before this you can stroll among these planes as they will be on static display, along with many other planes and helicopters, in the morning – a traditional feature of the Camarillo Airshows being the accessibility of the planes to the public. In the afternoon, the viewing line affords an almost unique opportunity to see the planes clearly as they taxi by, take off and land – and, of course, as they fly by in aerobatic and other exciting aerial displays.

Elite saw it all

A small incident occured at Van Nuys Airport today July 10th just before 2pm in which a twin engine airplane performed an emergency belly landing due to engine failure. The plane skidded off the runway and came to rest adjacent to 16L just before Vanowen Street. According to officials neither of the two passengers were injured and they were able to walk away safely. Simon Davis was at the Elite Helicopter Tours office during the emergency and followed on-scene after seeing various fire and FAA airport vehicles speed to the landing site. Various news vans were onsite which interviewed Simon. His comments can be seen below.
